BEAST Facility is proud to be home to EDGE PERFORMANCE TRAINING for individual and team sports performance training.

Edge Performance Training - powered by Hammer Athletics is now offering individual and group speed, strength and conditioning to athletes across all sports and ages.  From group classes for young athletes ages 8-11 to individualized instruction for middle, high school and college age athletes, EPT brings the highest standards in youth sports performance training to the Commack area.

  • Youth Athlete Development (YAD) – 60-minute sessions designed for 8-11 year old growing athletes.  YAD combines agility, strength and conditioning in a fun and dynamic group environment.  Classes focus on developing the fundamental fitness skills necessary for youth sports such as speed, agility, coordination, balance and core strength.  YAD is the perfect complement to the athlete’s weekly team skills training (soccer, basketball, football, baseball, lacrosse, etc.).  To learn more or register click here.
  • Athlete Power & Performance (APP) – Custom designed training programs for middle, high school and college athletes based on each individual’s sport, positional, and developmental needs.  Each athlete will undergo a baseline evaluation to inform their unique plan.  Athletes train in 60-minute small group (5 athletes or less) sessions and track individual performance for on-going trainer evaluation and program evolution.  To get started with an evaluation contact info@edgeperformanceli.com
In addition to group and individual training, EPT and Hammer Athletics offers customized team training to high school sports teams as well as youth travel organizations.

Edge Performance Training is powered by Hammer Athletics, a leader in competitive sports training.  Stephen Gourlay, founder of Hammer Athletics and former professional soccer player with Rangers FC in Scotland, develops and oversees all individual and group training.  Stephen has over 20 years of training experience with more than 20 certifications, including NSCA Tactical Strength & Conditioning, certified sports performance coach, certified Olympic lifting coach, Master trainer certified, core specialist and Certified Strength Coach. He has worked with and trained countless athletes and programs including: Toronto Blue Jays, Hanley Ramirez (Los Angeles Dodgers), Yunel Escobar (Tampa Bay Rays), Yadel Marti (Cuban National Baseball Team/Oakland Athletics), Yasser Gomez (Cuban National Baseball Team/Atlanta Braves), Dawn Riley (America’s Cup sailor), Angela Ruggiero (U.S. women’s ice hockey), NY Cosmos Soccer, LI Rough Riders Soccer, Ohio State University lacrosse, University of Rhode Island softball and many others.  Joining Stephen is Dr. Scott Yerys, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, who has extensive experience utilizing data and technology driven exercise testing with professional athletes.  Scott holds a masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Adelphi University and a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University.
